How to play paddle tennis

The ball can bounce off any wall but can only hit the turf once before being returned. Points can be scored when the ball does bounce twice in the competitor’s field.

Players use a short, stringless racquet with an elastic surface with holes and a low-compression tennis ball. And Shots are played either before or after the ball bounces off the surrounding glass walls.

Paddle Tennis Rules

  • The court is 44 feet long and 20 feet wide with a playing area of 60 feet by 30 feet. It is surrounded by a 12 feet high tightly strung-wired fence, which comes into play after the ball bounces off the padel courts. The net in the middle is about 37 inches high. There is a space of 8 feet between the baseline and the fence, and 5 feet between the sidelines and the fence.
  • The ball is made of rubber with flocking and the paddles are perforated for less air resistance.
  • Paddle tennis is always played in doubles. While the court is smaller than a typical tennis court, it’s still too big for singles.  
  • The server only gets 1 serve.
  • The receiving team can play the ball of the screens but not into them. Thus, it can take a long time for each paddle point.
