Overview:

12 days trekking and hiking the most popular wilderness areas in Oman. The trip schedule as follows: Day 1 Arrive, transfer to hotel in Muscat (Stay overnight in a hotel)make a city tour and visit Muscat’s Grand Mosque ( depends on time arrival )Day 2: Muscat - Nakhal – Bani Awf and camp on Bilad Sait. (Stay in a camp)After breakfast we set off from the hotel in 4WD car at 8am and drive northtowards Nakhal fort. Built on a large rock to help defend the farms of theplain, the fort is well worth a short stop. We then continue towards theWestern Hajar mountains and enter Wadi Bani Awf. Leaving the blacktop roadwe quickly engage 4-wheel drive as we journey through this picturesque wadilined with date farms and water pools (numbers vary depending on volume ofrecent rain). This is a steep and fun offroading experience and after one hourwe reach the pretty village of Bilad Sait where we will make wild camp. Day 3 Bilad Sait / sharaf al alameen camp in Sharaf Al Alameen (Stay in a camp)After breakfast we strat Hiking to birkat al sharaf we take theopportunity for a photo stop during the walk. We then continue ourwind up to 2000m and get our nice views of the stunning WesternHajar mountain range , while walking along the Birkat AlSharaf/Sharaf Alamein enjoys unique panoramic views of over 1000square kilometres of the whole Jabal Akhdar area. Camp near by area.Day 4 (Stay at a camp) After breakfast We leave our camp to village of Al Hamra to the South West.Around 11:00 Am we will make our way towards Jebal Shams, the highestpoint in Oman at 3000m, where we make walk (– balcony walk )From AlKateen village we follow the balcony trail along the mountain edge to anabandoned village which clings to the rocks completely hidden from viewfrom above and below. Just beyond the village we can see the traditionalfarm terracing where locals used to produce their food and a short walkfurther takes us to the small lake that feeds the terracing. The walk backalong the balcony trail offers more breathtaking views of the canyon and westop to further enjoy the views over a picnic lunch and camp for a nightunder the stars.Day 5 Jabal shams– wadi Ghul & Nakhar village to Tanuf / camp there. (Stay at a camp).After breakfast we set off in 4x4’s down the mountain to Wadi Ghul andNakhr village to view the canyon in reverse – from the bottom up, which isequally as dramatic and stunning, as this journey takes us through more thanhalf a billion years of geological time. Stopping for coffee and dates with thepeople of Nakhr village we see goat hair carpets being woven and dyed.We then head off to Tanuf makes an ideal resting place for our d nightof wild camping.Day 6 Start 7/8 hrs treck in Jbal Akhdar – abandoned village where we take 8-9hours Nice view in rim of Jbal Akhdar stop for lunch then to a plateau wherewe camp. (Stay at a camp)Today sees us rising early and after a hearty breakfast we break camp andstart our 7-8hr trek up Oman’s beautiful ‘green mountain’ Jabal Akhdar. Theinitial path is quite steep as we move over smooth rock slabs and quicklygain altitude covering much of the 1400m (from 700m to 2200m) in the first3-4hrs to enjoy views at 1400m out over the village of Al Far and Wadi AlQashah. A short detour brings us to an abandoned cliff village where we stopto enjoy our picnic lunch, before setting off for the gentler afternoon hike,aiming to reach camp on Sayq Plateau at 2200m by 4pm, allowing time torelax and to enjoy the sunset before dinner.Day 7 Back to tanuf 6-7 hours of walking to reach at last Nizwa city for overnightHotel (Stay at a hotel)Another day when we are up and set off early after breakfast and breakingcamp to trek down from the Al Jarir region of the plateau back to Tanuf.Although a shorter route down, with ~6-7 hours of walking, this is one of themost spectacular walks in Oman, at times quite challenging with some steepscrambling in parts offering fantastic aerial views.In the afternoon we reach Bahla city where we stay for overnight. Day 8 Relax day - (Stay at a camp)héritage village / Nizwa /– Wadi Bani KhalidIn the morning we will make a tour to Nizwa city ,the former capital city ofOman,. Today, Nizwa is still the largest and most important town in this areaof the interior and is noted for its 17th century fort and atmospheric souksfull of silversmiths’ art, especially ornately engraved khanjars.After lunch in a local restaurant we make the 3.5hr journey to Wadi BaniKhalid for an afternoon swim before making camp.Day 9 After breakfast we start 2 days treck up ( over salam plateau down to wadi tiwi (Stay at a camp)This morning we start our 2 day trek up and over the Selma Plateau anddown to Wadi Tiwi. From dipping our toes in the cool wadi waters we walkthrough the lush coolness of this popular and breathtaking wadi ascendinggradually to an altitude of 1655m. The rugged landscape provides a starkcontrast to the greenness of the wadi and offers panoramic views out overthe stunning Eastern Hajar mountain range. We make wild camp on theplateau and settle down for another night under the stars.Day 10 Down from the plateau to wadi tiwi , walk to the cars and go for camp inend ( white beach ) (Stay in a camp)Up and off early we break camp after breakfast and begin our onward anddown trek from the plateau to Wadi Tiwi. The rugged landscape continuesuntil we start to descend and once more encounter the lush coolness of thewadi with its dramatic rock faces and palms. Once refreshed we walk thefinal gentle stretch to the cars and go on to our camp, just 15mins away atthe stunning talcum powder soft White Beach.Day 11 - Relax day :Wadi shab , enjoy swimming in the pools after lunch walk back tothe cars and back to Muscat (Stay at a hotel)After perhaps a quick swim and snorkel before breakfast we break camp andhead to nearby Wadi Shab, just 15mins away by car. A gentle 1hr stroll upthis beautiful wadi brings us to the swimming pools. Here we can relax andswim in the pools and onto the hidden cave. Once refreshed and after lunch, we walk back to the cars and make our journey back to Muscat.Day 12DeparturePackage Includes:- pick up and drop off to the airport-Muscat City Tour with an English speaking guide/driver( to be confirmed )- X 10 days tour by 4WD with English speaking guide- breakfast, lunch, dinner- 7 days camping Equipments- 3 nights nuits en hôtels:Accommodation/meals for the guide/driver- Cold drinks and all entrance fees during the tour
